Last day of journalism lectures
I completed what hopefully is the last day of journalism lectures - provided I don't completely fail any exams in a couple of weeks :p - with style and flair... I overslept! :p Also, check out the new photos - faces of UQ!
Today I had my last day of going to lectures and tutorials for journalism... In a week the exams start, and in three weeks I'm all finished with my Bachelor of Journalism!
That was quick! :p
It feels like I just came to Australia for the first time! I can still vividly remember the bug-spraying cabin crew on my first flight to Brisbane, the first drive from the airport to my new place in Loch street, and the orientation session for newly arrived international students...
Then again, I can also remember meeting my Maria for the first time and a lot of other things that have happened to me while I have been here... I've had a great stay in Brisbane so far! And I'm sure it'll get even better in the years to come.
Next year I'm marrying Maria, starting on a Master of Commerce and getting an Australian resident visa... I'm not even going back to Norway for Christmas - which will be a little strange... No snow and sub-zero temperatures. But I get to spend it with my little wife (to-be in two months and a bit) with 40+ degrees and insane humidity, evening storms and lots of hiding in air-conditioned shopping centers.
Things are changing... But it's a good change! (Particularly the marriage part... I'm absolutely looking forward to having Maria as my wife!)
Faces of UQ
On the right are some photos from UQ's St Lucia campus, where I have toddled around for the past 2.5 years! The faces are sandstone carvings on the gigantic building(s) that surround the Great Court. They're actually pretty interesting - but I doubt they get much attention! Most students are far too busy with their assignments to lift their noses out of the books and look up... Good thing there are journalism students! :p
Time for me to get off the computer! Going for a little photo safari and ice cream with Maria. It's 31 degrees here today, I got to bed at 0530 this morning after spending all last night finishing up the multimedia journalism website project, Maria has practically lived in the computer labs for the last week or so, and we have eight exams between us coming up! I think we deserve an ice cream each! :o) (No doubt, Håkon and Nils - read the small talk (in Norwegian) for background - will find ample opportunity to sympathise with my very strenuous life here in Australia! :p)
